Bentley PLAXIS Monopile Designer is a specialized geotechnical software for designing monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines. The program is intended for: calculation and optimization of monopiles of large diameters; modeling the “pile-soil” interaction; designing foundations for offshore wind farms; application of the PISA (Pile Soil Analysis) project methodology, developed specifically for large monopiles. How is it different from PLAXIS 3D? PLAXIS 3D is a universal FEA program for geotechnical modeling. PLAXIS Monopile Designer is a specialized tool specifically for monopiles: it performs fast 1D design of a monopil; automatically calibrates soil reaction curves; can create and run verification models in PLAXIS 3D; allows you to reduce steel consumption and the length of pile penetration. According to Bentley, pile length can sometimes be reduced by up to 35%.
