Delft3D is a set of programs for modeling hydrodynamics, currents, waves, sediment transport, water quality and bottom morphology in rivers, estuaries, coastal waters and seas. This is not a single “program” in the usual sense, but a set of modules for scientific and engineering calculations, which: calculates the movement of water in time and space (2D and 3D) under the influence of wind, tides, density; models transport and sedimentation, formation of shores and bottom; assesses water quality, the distribution of contaminants and the behavior of biological components; used to analyze river hydraulics, design coastal structures, assess the effects of storms, etc. Delft3D FM Suite is a modern version of the Delft3D software package, where FM stands for Flexible Mesh.
