Its very first applications related to the analysis of the stress state of structures subjected to shock loading. Unlike the well-known programs ABAQUS, ANSYS, MSC.Nastran, LS-DYNA was originally created to solve dynamic nonlinear problems. Next, Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC) was created, which began to develop commercial versions of the program aimed at the automotive industry.
